Study Expects Massive Increase in E-Waste Recycling

Study Expects Massive Increase in E-Waste Recycling

A recent report from Pike Research predicts a coming spike in electronic waste recycling.

Between 2010 and 2025, the firm forecasts the amount of electronics recycled will rise from 18 percent in 2010 to 54 percent in 2025. Electronics recycling and reuse will rise from 1.1 million tons per year in 2010 to 7.9 million tons annually by 2025.

“The key players in the consumer electronics product sector are all large multinational companies that have in one form or another adopted concepts of corporate social responsibility and sustainability,” said Bob Gohn, vice president of Pike Research, in a statement made on the report. “Implementation and deployment vary from company to company, though, and some are more robust in their efforts than others. Progress on the regulatory and standards front will accelerate these efforts.”

Television Recycling Made Easy with Accurate IT Services

With the current need for CRT Television recycling skyrocketing, Accurate IT Services has revisited its policy on recycling these old tube TVs.

Accurate IT Services is now charging $1 per inch on CRT Televisions, a much better alternative to our previous weight-based fee. With this charge, you’ll know how much your TV costs to recycle before you bring it in, reassuring that you won’t be startled by an outrageous per pound fee like most companies charge.

As you may know, CRT TVs are expensive to recycle, containing many hazardous materials, such as lead and cadmium, which must be properly removed by licensed organizations. Ensuring Data Stays Destroyed

Ensuring Data Stays Destroyed

Today, data security is a main concern whenever any company or citizen is retiring their old IT equipment. Formatting the hard drive may seem like enough to some, but there are people who dedicate their time and efforts to recovering that information, which is easier than you think.

That is why you should always make sure that, when recycling any electronics with data storage devices, you recycle with an electronics recycler with the necessary certifications. The R2 Certification is not only dedicated to ensuring electronics are appropriately recycled, but there is much consideration given to data security. All companies obtaining the R2 Certification undergo a rigorous data security audit to ensure that their standards are up-to-date with current industry standards.

Some days are warm and some cold. I believe that every Ohioan can agree that this winter season only strengthens our claim for the strangest weather in the United States.

Reduce, REUSE, Recycle!

Reduce, REUSE, Recycle!

While many electronics recycling companies promote complete destruction of e-waste, Accurate IT Services takes a different approach to recycling. As stated in our Environmental Policy Statement, found at http://ait-recycle.com/recycling-standards-a-policy, Accurate IT believes that the most important form of recycling is the reuse of equipment.

The reuse of properly functioning refurbished equipment should never be an issue when determining an electronics recycler. Accurate IT Services guarantees complete data destruction and indemnifies the customer against any liability. All materials are processed and refurbished in accordance with the Responsible Recycling (R2) Management Standard.

Furthermore, there are many advantages when it comes to buying refurbished equipment. For instance, it’s less expensive. It is important to note that, while it is less expensive, the quality of the equipment is important. That is why Accurate IT Services’ LCD Monitors, Computers, and Laptops undergo rigorous testing for complete functionality before going onto the market.

That is where Accurate IT Services comes in. We recycle all electronics, from computers and laptops to televisions, cell phones, and all-around IT scrap. We are an R2-certified electronics recycler in Columbus, OH that can offer a free recycling service for most electronics. Data Security in an Information-Rich Age

Data Security in an Information-Rich Age

In today’s society, important personal information like credit card accounts, social security numbers, and private data has become easily exploitable by those who fail to recognize the importance of data security. When taking an old storage device to your local neighborhood electronics recycler, you should ask certain questions to ensure that your information will be destroyed securely and responsibly.

Ask questions like: What happens to my IT Scrap? What does your company do to protect my data? Are you authorized to accept data sensitive electronics for recycling? Is you company R2 certified? The R2 certification is awarded to those electronics recyclers that follow the voluntary Responsible Recycling standard developed by the EPA. Not only does this standard focus on the importance of accountable e-waste recycling, but it ensures customers that their data is being destroyed securely though the scrutiny placed on the recycler’s data destruction processes.
