India is proposing that electronics retailers take back the goods at the end of their useful life. This would be an interesting turn of events, as many people do not know what to do with their end of life electronics. Most people just throw it in the trash. In some countries, they are actually fining people for doing this and have seen an increase in recycling because of it. India’s plan would require electronics producers to implement a refundable deposit system for electronics as well as take back old devices. This is a great idea because it allows people more access to recycling, which ultimately will reduce the amount of electronic waste that ends up in landfills.
